The Gathering Place, a new, approximately 100-acre public park in Tulsa, Oklahoma, offers overflow parking lots for park guests. The lots have no permanent lighting at this time, so Site Solar provides light towers for those parking lots. The timers on the light towers are set to bring lights on at dusk and turn off an hour after the park closes, to provide safety and security to park visitors.
Over the course of seven months the lights have been in use, the Gathering Place has saved more than 4,300 gallons of diesel fuel and 44 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions by substituting automated solar light towers rather than diesel light towers. Additional labor savings have come from timers turning lights on and off automatically so park staff can be utilized for other tasks.
